Person Hospitalized After Being Shot by Deputy in Placer County (1)

CALIFORNIA’S PLACER COUNTY — After a deputy fired fire on a suspect, Placer County deputies are requesting people to stay away from the Lake Forest Drive neighbourhood in Loomis.

Around 10 a.m., the Placer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of “strange circumstances” at home in the Lake Forest Drive neighbourhood. Deputies claimed the inquiry lasted hours until they discovered a man, only identified as male, fleeing the house with a weapon.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office claimed on Facebook that “deputies caught up to the male and became engaged in an officer-involved shooting.”

At this moment, no information on the suspect’s condition or the events leading up to the shooting is available.

Two neighbours, however, told CSU that police told them this was part of a larger homicide investigation. CSU requested confirmation from the sheriff’s office. However the sheriff’s office stated that investigators are working tonight to process the home in question in order to answer CSU’s queries. According to a spokeswoman, further information will be available by Tuesday morning.

No deputies were hurt during the encounter, and the suspect was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The investigation is still underway. There is currently no estimate for when folks in the neighbourhood would be able to return home as of Monday night.
