In the shooting at the Chesapeake retail mall, an 18-year-old guy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

CHESAPEAKE, N.Y. — An 18-year-old male has been charged with murder in connection with a shooting last weekend outside a Chesapeake retail complex that killed one guy.

Virginia Beach resident Nahjah Kymonie Cuffee has been charged with first-degree murder and unlawful use of a firearm. At the Chesapeake City Jail, he is being held without bond.

Around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, officers from the Chesapeake Police Department responded to a gunshot incident at the Holly Point Shopping Center, located at 211 Providence Road.

When police arrived on the scene, Julian Peterson, 28, of Virginia Beach, had been shot. Peterson died on his way to the hospital, according to officials. Cuffee is due in court on Monday to answer these accusations.

The shooting is still being investigated.
