LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Theft of electrical components from a nearby substation is being investigated by Elizabethtown police.
Police were called to the electrical substation off Woodland Drive on Monday afternoon, according to police. The substation is managed by Nolan Rural Electric Cooperative and Eastern Kentucky Power, according to spokesperson Chris Denham. Denham estimated that the theft of the components cost $37,000 in damage to the substation.
“These crimes are exceedingly dangerous, in addition to the monetary losses. They are harmful not only to the perpetrators of the crime but also to responding officers and utility workers who are responsible for completing repairs,” he added in a statement.
