Columbia Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

COLUMBIA, Mo. (CSU)

In a late Sunday homicide in Columbia’s northeast, a man is accused of murder.

After the shooting death of another man Sunday in the 3800 block of Pinecrest Drive, police arrested Samuel E. Brotherton, 21, on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action, According to the Columbia Police Department’s news statement. Police were called to the site around 11:45 p.m. for a domestic dispute, according to the statement.

Officers discovered a guy who had been shot. According to the notice, he was rushed to a hospital and declared dead. Rollin G. Thompson, 64, was recognized by authorities as to the suspect.

Brotherton was Thompson’s stepson, according to a guy who identified himself as a family member at the residence where the incident happened.

CPD did not provide any further information regarding the incident or Brotherton’s arrest.

According to jail records, Brotherton was in the Boone County Jail on Monday without bail.
