Waikiki Murder Suspect Turned Himself in To Police Custody

(CSU) HONOLULU — On Sunday afternoon, shortly after 2 p.m., the murder suspect in the killing of a 20-year-old male in Waikiki surrendered to Alapai Police Station.

According to police, the incident happened around 10 p.m. on Saturday after Justice Manumalo Kaio, 19, had a verbal altercation with the victim on the sidewalk near Kalakaua Avenue and Lewers Street.

Kaio then fled along Lewers Street towards Kuhio Avenue, allegedly shooting the victim. Honolulu EMS took the man to the hospital, where he was declared dead, according to police.

The attack was not random, according to investigators, and Kaio and the victim knew each other.
