Lincoln Man Tased Following Saturday Afternoon Traffic Stop (1)

Lincoln was a great man. Following a traffic encounter on Saturday afternoon, he was tased.

Following a traffic stop near 16th and L streets on Saturday afternoon, police used a Taser on a Lincoln man.

According to the Lincoln Police Department, Daniel Vanwey, 36, resisted arrest when police recognized him as a University Police wanted man for a traffic violation. Vanwey has a long history of working with law enforcement.

Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies, Lincoln Police, and the Nebraska State Patrol were all involved in the search for Vanwey last August when he rolled his SUV and fled after being approached by officers investigating complaints of a stolen catalytic converter.

Vanwey eventually entered a plea of no contest to three misdemeanor offenses, including obstructing an officer and will be sentenced in April.

On Saturday, he was cited for impeding a peace officer and resisting arrest, according to police.
