According to authorities, a guy in his 30s was tragically shot overnight in Independence. Officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 10400 block of East Truman Road around 11:15 p.m., according to Officer Jack Taylor of the Independence Police Department. Officers discovered a 33-year-old male with gunshot wounds inside a residence. The victim, who has not been identified publicly, died at the scene.
Taylor said a person of interest who was discovered nearby was apprehended shortly after the incident.
The tragedy’s cause is still being studied. According to data provided by The Star, this is the eighth homicide in Independence this year, including police deaths.
