Man arrested after allegedly receiving $90,000 for construction project but never completing it (1) (1)

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, a man was detained after reportedly collecting a $90,000 deposit for a construction job he never completed.

Garland Lee Waldroop, 55, was arrested on a warrant for theft and bait advertising at his Pueblo West residence in the 500 block of Escalante Drive on Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the inquiry began in December 2021 when the victim told authorities he paid Waldroop a $90,000 deposit to construct four metal buildings. According to the victim, not all of the materials were supplied, and the work was never completed.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers discovered Waldroop did not finish the project during the inquiry. Waldroop was also accused of impersonating a company name in his dealings with customers.

Waldroop was taken to the Pueblo County Jail and booked.
