Man Shot and Killed After Argument at Baby Shower in Hawthorne

A dispute broke at a backyard party in Hawthorne, California, late Monday night, and a man was shot and died, authorities say.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Charles Calderaro, there were about 20 individuals attending a baby shower in the 3900 block of West 118th Street when shots rang out around 11:50 p.m.

According to the lieutenant, a 25-year-old male was shot numerous times in the upper torso after two men got into a verbal argument.

The unidentified victim was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

A man in his 20s was characterized as the shooter, and he was said to have been invited to the event by pals.

How the two came to be involved in an argument is unknown, and it’s not apparent what sparked it.

118th Street was cordoned off by police tape, while video from the site showed police cruisers encircling a house.
