SACRAMENTO (California) – When a guy shot another person inside the Planet Fitness in the Country Club Plaza off Watt Avenue, gymgoers claim they escaped to safety.
It occurred just after 3 p.m., according to eyewitnesses.
Witnesses told CSU Van Tieu that the shooting took place inside the gym. An armed suspect was also hiding in the Del Paso Manor area, according to a law enforcement official on the scene.
Members of the gym informed CSU that the suspect even applied for a job there and that management turned over all of his information to authorities.
One eyewitness, known only as Joe, told CSU what he seen.
“I saw this individual punching another individual. It was a little one-sided. It was simply one person attempting to fight another guy, but the other guy kept backing off until the guy throwing the blows leaned down and seemed to be grasping his coat, and then there was a pop. “We saw debris shoot up and figured it was a gunshot, so we all immediately raced out of the gym,” Joe said.
The guy who was shot was awake when he was hauled away, according to eyewitnesses. He was shot in the foot or thigh, according to the police.
The local manager declined to respond, but the Planet Fitness corporate headquarters issued the following statement.
“The safety of our workers, members, and visitors is our first concern at Planet Fitness, and we are horrified by this senseless act of violence.” To aid the authorities in their investigation, the local franchise group is cooperating closely with them. “We send any further enquiries to the authorities since this is an ongoing investigation,” a Planet Fitness spokeswoman stated.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to a request for comment right away.
