Texas Judge Finds No Probable Cause in Case of Mom Who Had Covid-Positive Son in Trunk (1)

In the case of a mother who had a COVID-positive son in her trunk, a Texas judge finds no probable cause.

A Houston lady was charged with endangering her COVID-19-positive son after transporting him in the trunk of her car, but a Texas judge found no reasonable cause.

Sarah Beam, an English teacher at Cypress Falls High School, allegedly drove to a testing facility with her son in the trunk to prevent acquiring the disease,

Beam, 42, reportedly put the youngster in the trunk after he tested positive for COVID and drove him to a second COVID testing center in the city.

After seeing the youngster in the trunk, unhurt, at the drive-thru testing station, a witness called police enforcement. According to CSU, Beam also admitted to putting her son in the trunk to “avoid her from being exposed to dangerous COVID.”

The beam was eventually arrested and charged with child endangerment, but she was able to get out of jail.

She appeared in court on Thursday, where the judge stated that there was no reasonable basis for the arrest. It’s unknown whether Beam’s charge will be withdrawn or if he’ll face more legal consequences.

The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District has placed Beam on administrative leave as they await the outcome of the charge.

In a statement to the outlet, Harris County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Dane Schiller said, “We will review all of the evidence gathered by police and make a determination on how to proceed, including the possibility of presenting this case to a grand jury so that representatives of the people of Harris County can decide whether a criminal charge is appropriate.” “We fully respect the judge’s decision and will carry on with our work.”
