DES MOINES, Iowa (Csu) — Family members of a man shot over the weekend in Des Moines’ Capitol Park area are hoping police can apprehend the perpetrator.

Trishay Thompson, 24, of Des Moines, was recognized by loved ones as the victim of a shooting on Pennsylvania Avenue on Sunday night.

When approached for comment on Wednesday, Des Moines Police said the shooting victim was still critical. Thompson’s family told CSU that he is opening his eyes and recognizing family members in the hospital, but that he is paralyzed from the neck down and on a ventilator.

Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, police were called to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Thompson’s family claims he did not live there, but that he was dropping off a buddy before the incident.

Authorities are still looking into the shooting and haven’t released any potential motives or suspects.

Contact Des Moines Police at (515) 283-4811 if you have any information about the shooting.
