Elderly Pedestrian Dead After Horror Crash in Co Tipperary

In Co Tipperary, an elderly pedestrian was killed in a horrific accident.

On Sunday evening in Co Tipperary, an elderly man was hit by an automobile and died.

At around 5:50 p.m., Garda and emergency personnel arrived on the site of the injured pedestrian and swiftly transported him to Cork University Hospital, where he died.

According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident on Castle Street in Cahir was uninjured.

The road remains closed this morning to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical assessment of the incident, however, local detours are in place.

Gardai are now calling for any witnesses, particularly road users with camera footage, to come forward (including dashcam).

“Garda and emergency services attended the scene of a tragic road traffic incident on Castle Street in Cahir, Co.Tipperary yesterday evening, 9th January 2022,” officials said in a statement released this morning.

“The collision, which occurred at 5.50 p.m. and involved a car and a pedestrian, is thought to have occurred.”
