57-Year-Old Belton Man Charged in Girlfriend’s Shooting Death

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (CSU) – A 57-year-old Belton man was arrested and charged with murder in the death of a 45-year-old woman over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, Michael H. Tate was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, unauthorized possession of a handgun, and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution in the Cass County Jail.

Tate is being kept incommunicado.

On Saturday night, about 10:15 p.m., Belton police responded to a reported death in the 600 block of North Scott Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a lady who died from a gunshot wound, subsequently identified as Mattie Eisenbrant of Belton. According to Belton police, she shared the house with Tate, her boyfriend.

Tate is scheduled to appear in Cass County Circuit Court on February 3rd.
