Fort Wainwright Soldier Found Dead at Fairbanks Home

A 21-year-old Army soldier who was passionate about four-wheeling and Chevrolets died. He lived off post and was found in his home.

Aircraft powerplant repairers are people in the military. They work on aircraft. This person was in the Army, but they were with a different battalion and regiment.

The Army is investigating the cause of death. The Alaska State Troopers are helping them.

David Hosea, a friend and fellow helicopter mechanic at Wainwright said in a phone call that Tom Stafford always loved Chevys.

He bought a big Chevy Silverado. I remember the day he bought it. He was so excited.

He really liked driving in the dirt. He would go off-roading most weekends, even on weekdays. His way of coping was driving anything with a motor.

Stafford is also a great mechanic, Hosea said.
