RALEIGH, N.C. (CSU) — A North Carolina funeral home director who was accused last summer of hiding two corpses on the residential property now faces new charges from a state agency.
The Department of Insurance said on Monday that Jeremiah Whitt, 40, got something by lying. Whitt owns a funeral home. He is accused of not returning money from a life insurance policy to the person’s family. He was arrested last Tuesday and will be in court on Tuesday.
In June, a sheriff’s office accused Whitt of hiding two corpses on his property. He had been hired to cremate the remains but didn’t do the job.
The Department of Motor Vehicles also filed charges on Whitt a year ago. He tried to get money for services by claiming that he had watched a woman sign a document. But she had been dead for almost a year.
