STEWARTVILLE –– A man from Stewartville was stabbed and is in the hospital. Another man who did it has been arrested.
A man called the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office at 2 p.m. on Thursday about an apartment in the 100 block of South Main Street. The Sheriff’s Office learned that a 42-year-old man was taken to the ER by himself in a car.
When a deputy arrived at an apartment, she found blood outside. At the same time, investigators went to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys. The man was taken to be treated there. Investigators couldn’t talk with him because he was intubated. His condition got worse when he arrived at the hospital. The man had a stab wound on his face and one on the arm.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called to help out with the investigation because it is believed that his injuries were life-threatening. Through witness statements, the investigators know that Cole Thomas Thielen is the suspect. They were friends.
It is believed that Thielen and the man had a fight before the stabbing happened. Thielen was not at the apartment when the deputies arrived. But deputies found Thielen in a rural home in Grand Meadow about 12:30 a.m. on Friday.
Thielen was arrested on suspicion of first and second-degree assault. He is not expected to go to court for a few days.
