Eddie Mekka, Carmine on 'Laverne & Shirley,' Dead at 69

(CSU) Eddie Mekka, who had a role on the show “Laverne and Shirley,” died Saturday. This is according to his Facebook account.

He was 69 years old.

We do not know the cause of death right now. Details will be released later.

Mekka played a character on a TV show with Shirley.

Cindy Williams, who played Shirley, said on Twitter: “My dear Eddie. You were a world-class talent who could do it all. I love you a lot, and I will miss you. But the memories we had together are marvelous.”

A popular TV series ran on ABC from 1976-1983.

Mekka is from Massachusetts, and he moved to Los Angeles. Then he got a Tony nomination for his lead role in “The Lieutenant” on Broadway in 1975.

Mekka was on The Love Boat, Family Matters, Guiding Light, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
