Upstate Man Gets 25-Years For Fatal Drive-By Shooting (1)

A man from Gaffney was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Tuesday for a drive-by shooting.

Shaun Rogers Jr., who is 21 years old, pleaded guilty to a crime that was voluntary manslaughter. He also had a weapon and shot it in someone’s house and tried to kill them. Overton Good, 23, died in the shooting on Pleasant School Road.

Investigators found that Rogers and Jermaine Jefferies, a 23-year-old from Gaffney, tried to force their way into the Good’s home before the drive-by shooting. Rogers and Jeffries shot at a car. They drove away. Overton stopped them, and they left in the car. The window was broken, and Good died. A bullet hit him, and he died because of it.

Witnesses told the sheriff’s deputies what Rogers and Jefferies looked like. And they had evidence also.

Rogers got 20 years in prison. He was convicted of burglary. He broke into someone’s house. He also tried to steal something from the house but could not do it. But he didn’t get convicted for murder or the other charges.

Rogers will have to stay in prison for more than 20 years before he can be released. Jeffries pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder, first-degree burglary, and attempted armed robbery. He is in the Cherokee County Detention Center, waiting to be sentenced.
