Davie Crime Scene Techs Testify in Dayonte Resiles Murder Trial in Broward

DAVIE, Fla. – Yesterday, the trial of Dayonte “Moochie” Resiles went on with the testimony of people who were at the scene when Jill Halliburton Su was murdered.

On September 8, 2014, her husband told their son that the surveillance camera at their house in Davie was not working. The son rushed to the house and found his mother dead in a bathtub.

Davie Police Department investigators found that Resiles’ DNA was on a knife and a cloth belt which was at the scene of the crime. Resiles had a history of home burglaries. He was in a database because he had done it before. The prosecutor showed the jury the knife yesterday.

Detectives arrested him on September 18, 2014. The police charged him with murder. On July 15, 2016, he was in a fourth-floor courtroom in Broward County when he unlocked his shackles and ran.
Resiles left his jumpsuit in the stairwell, put on a fake uniform to walk out of the building, and then got into a getaway car that his girlfriend was driving. Eight people were arrested for helping Resiles escape. Seven others lied about his whereabouts when the murder happened. A jury is still deciding on whether he will go to jail or not.

He said he didn’t kill Jill Halliburton Su, who was a member of the family that started the Halliburton oil company. She was 59 when she died.

Resiles’s lawyer said in court that the DNA does not show who killed the person. Resiles could face the death penalty or be in prison for life if he is convicted of first-degree murder.
