The government of Belarus cleared a migrant camp at their border with Poland. This started after the migrants had been living in freezing and life-threatening conditions, according to The New York Times. It is expected that this will help ease some tension from the situation if it has been escalating to violence lately. On Monday, Belarus’s leader called an EU leader.
It’s first time he has spoken with a Western leader since the 2020 presidential election. Belarus said Europe is to blame for the situation, and Europe said it was Belarus pushing migrants to their border for political purposes.
