Two Shot in Jersey City Crime Spree That Ends With Arrests

Police said that there was a robbery spree on Sunday night. Two people were shot, and two robbers were caught after crashing into a police car.

Police got a call from a deli. A person had been there, and they took $400-$500 from the money. Police responded to a Valero gas station on Garfield Avenue. A robbery happened, and someone was shot in the armpit. The robbery happened around 9 p.m.

Two things happened. The police got a report of a shooting at 9:16 p.m. They went to Crown Chicken and found an employee who was shot in the chest. They found out that a robbery had happened across the street just before the shooting happened.

A Street Crimes Unit found the black Dodge Dart that was allegedly used for four crimes. They stopped it near a street. A 29-year-old man was the driver of the car., tried to run away and crashed into a police car.

After the initial crash, Williams drove their car to the sidewalk on the southwest side of their car. They hit the corner of a building and stopped. Street Crimes and ESU arrested them at 9:20 p.m.

Both shooting victims are in good condition.

Chandler and Williams are charged with conspiring, robbing, criminal attempt, having a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and having dum-dum bullets. Williams is also charged with not being able to have weapons and escaping.

One day after Jersey City had its 20th shooting of the year, there was a crime spree. Last year there were only 16 shootings in Jersey City.
