UPDATE: An El Paso police official said that two people died from being shot. One person is still in the hospital from being shot. No one has been identified yet.

As of 10 p.m. on this day, no arrests had been made, and no suspects were being held. Authorities did not give a designation of the people who shot. Investigators are interviewing witnesses. There were other people in the park when the gunfire happened.

We don’t know why this happened, but there’s no reason to think the community is in danger.

ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas — Three people were shot in a drive-by shooting in the Lower Valley on Thursday evening. Two of those victims were critically injured.

A shooting happened. It happens at 6:30 p.m. in the 8100 block of Independence Drive, near S. Yarbrough Drive, which is J.P. Shawver Park next to the Border Highway. The shooting happened in a city. First-responders took three people who were shot to the hospital. Two of these people had very serious injuries.

A police spokesman said that the officers at the scene were early in their attempts to find out what happened. They promised to give more information later in the night.
