Taxman Pleads Guilty to Federal Tax Violations (1)

A tax preparer who has offices in New Orleans and LaPlace has pleaded guilty to filing false income tax returns.

The US Attorney for Louisiana, Duane A. Evans, announced that Leroi G. Jackson pleaded guilty today to filing a false tax return in front of the US District Judge Susie Morgan.

Jackson is the owner and operator of The Taxman Financial Services LLC (“Taxman”). Taxman prepares tax returns for customers. They have an office in New Orleans and one in LaPlace.

Federal agents found that Jackson filed false income tax returns for clients. Jackson would create false business losses or false education credits and charge $500 per return. He stole $241,000 from 2014-2016.

Jackson is facing a maximum sentence of three years in jail. He will have to pay $100,000 and up to one year of probation. He will also have to take a special tax assessment fee of $100. The judge has set the sentencing hearing for 2 pm on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022.

The Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation Department is in charge of this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Matthew R. Payne is the one who will be in charge of the prosecution.
