TikTok is a social media app that can provide entertainment and helpful hacks. Often we see videos from TikTok users with tips or recipes that make us think, “why didn’t we think of this?”

Now, one woman on TikTok has made the internet very happy by telling us that we have been putting our trash bags in the wrong place.
First, pull the trash bag from the box. Next, try to open it without going crazy. Give it a shake and then stick it in the can and pull over the rim so that it stays in place.

According to Hannah Ian, who is from the company Stored Simply and works with Lydia Amerson, there is a better way. They shared it on TikTok. In a video that got 11.8 million views, she first points out that the bag is inside-out and shows off the seam to prove it.
This trick is very easy. First, put the bag over the can like a hat. Then you will not have to fight with it and shake it. After you put the bag on the lid, push it down into the can. The bag should stay on and should be inside.
Ian said after he showed us the trick with the trash bag.
But there is one warning for those who want to get a can with a hole. You might not get it right, and that could be bad. Make sure the can has a hole in the back if you put trash in it.
In an interview after the TikTok video went viral, Ian explained that trashcans without holes in them do not work as well with this trash bag trick. The bag can “cause an air pocket to form in them.” which prevents the bag from fitting into the can properly.

It is when you put a regular plastic shopping bag inside of another one and tie it together to make a hole for the air to go in and out. On trash cans without holes, that doesn’t work as well because then there’s an air pocket that forms. That means that it cannot fit into the can properly.
