Georgia Sues Biden Administration in Federal Court Over Vaccine Mandate

The governor of Georgia, the attorney general of Georgia, and the agriculture commissioner all filed a lawsuit against President Obama’s vaccine mandate. They did this with leaders from 6 other states. This lawsuit is because of the president’s rule for people who work on federal projects.

A vaccine mandate will make it more difficult for people to get jobs. Polls show that 70% of unvaccinated Americans would quit their job if they had to get the COVID-19 vaccine. From an employer’s point of view, 9 in 10 think that there will be significant reductions in their workforce if they have to implement a mandate. We will not let the Biden Administration get around laws or make people who work hard in Georgia choose between getting a vaccine and their jobs.

In a court complaint filed late Friday, the officials say that Biden’s requirement is hard to follow. They would have to terminate a lot of people, or they wouldn’t get federal contracts.

Executive Order 14042 is very big and needs to be done quickly. It applies to people working on a federal contract, even if they don’t work for the company that has the contract. There aren’t many rules about how it will work in real life. Some people will not get the shots. But every government contractor has to get them, even if they work outside or by themselves. And it has to happen soon.

The states charged that the White House acted beyond its authority. They say that they violated the Constitution and multiple federal laws. They want the court to stop enforcing the mandate, but this is hard to do if it is part of something else.

Joe Biden signed an order to make sure you are vaccinated. You must do this until December 8th. The government has also done this for their workers, but they have until November 22nd to get vaccinated.

The White House thinks that if the government makes people get shots, they will stop COVID-19. There will be 5 million government contract employees in 2020. They work in many different jobs, like manufacturing or health care, or university research.

A law was recently decided by the U.S. Supreme Court that said employers could make employees get a vaccine for COVID-19, even though it doesn’t have a religious exemption.

Georgia has universities. Some people debate about masks and vaccines. They do this before the start of the fall semester.

A vaccine mandate would cause people to quit their jobs because they don’t want it. That’s why the University of Georgia is not making its professors make it required for students.

The University of Georgia and Georgia Tech changed their minds on Wednesday when Joe Biden told them to.

But Kemp’s complaint questions whether it would be possible to vaccinate everyone who comes into contact with one of the contractors working at the university. If Tech and UGA could not comply with this order, they would lose more than $700 million.

Democrats did not like the lawsuit. They said it is a stunt that is dangerous.

The Democratic Party of Georgia says that most people support President Biden’s actions to stop coronavirus spread. More people are getting vaccinated in Georgia, so it is working. Kemp and other Republicans should stop talking about COVID and join Democrats to fight this pandemic.

Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina, Utah, and West Virginia are joining Georgia in the lawsuit.

Ten other states filed a lawsuit with Florida on Friday. Missouri, Nebraska, Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
