Ohio State Basketball: 3 Questions as the New Season Draws Near

Ohio State Basketball 3 Questions as the New Season Draws Near (1)

You can believe it! Pretty soon, Ohio State basketball and college basketball will be here. The season begins on November 9th.

The Buckeyes had a great last year, but then the season ended badly. They will be back and ready to play their hardest in the next season with a ranking of 17. Ohio State has some players leaving and some new players being added, so there are many unknowns about their team even though it is so soon.

There are three questions ahead of the new season. Who starts in the Ohio State backcourt? With new players arriving, they will need to find someone.

Do you know who will replace C.J. Walker and Duane Washington? There are many players on the team that can do it since it is a deep team this year.

Meechie Johnson is back on the team. He was an early enrollee last year and showed that he could handle the ball well. He shot from three sometimes. What is new is that he has lots of potentials to be a great player for Ohio State, not just this year but in future years too.

Jimmy Sotos, who transferred from Bucknell University, comes back after being hurt last year. He is a good player because he can shoot the ball and is fundamentally sound on defense. What people might not like about him is that he may not be as good as some other players at some parts of the game. But people should put him in a position to shoot more and read for catch and shoots so he can do what he does best.

Eugene Brown played only a little in his first year at Ohio State. He sometimes struggled, but he has a height of 6’6 and can play as a shooting guard or even as a small forward, which is what most people think of when they hear “wing player.” This year, his role could be expanded. But he probably won’t start or be on the bench anytime soon.

Justin Ahrens could have a huge season if he shoots well this year. He is one of the best shooters in college basketball. He can play as either the two-guard or three-guard, and defenders need to keep an eye on him because he is dangerous at shooting.

Malaki Branham is a new player on the team. He was one of Coach Holtmann’s best recruits. Malaki’s skills are good, which makes him an interesting player.

Jamari Wheeler is a college basketball player who came from Penn State. He will play as the point guard, and he already has the starting spot. Wheeler will mainly give out points on his team but can also play defense too, which was shown by him winning All-Defensive honors for the Big Ten last season.

Cedric Russell has transferred from a college in Louisiana. He is a bucket that last year averaged 17 points, 41.9% shooting, and 40% shooting from 3-point range. He will likely be a shooting guard on the NBA team, looking to add offense to the team. Cedric even stated he could offer some scoring ability for the Bucks in an interview.

It’s no secret that I can shoot the ball. But I also want to give another scoring option. Russell may be the best choice to play as the shooting guard and Wheeler as the point guard.

The Buckeyes can choose from many different combinations for their backcourt. The point guard spot seems to be the only one that is certain. Either Ahrens or Russell will probably be the shooting guard, and Sotos will most likely be the third-best shooting guard.
