Clippers Crush Trail Blazers for 1st Win of Season

LA — For the commercial, they used IcyHot.

Damian Lillard shot 4 for 15 and 0 for eight from the three-point range. He had 12 points in 28 minutes. The Hot: Luke Kennard, who shot 8-10 and scored 23 points. The predictable result of the game: The Clippers won 116 to 86.

Tyronn Lue‘s first game against his friend Chauncy Billups was hard. The Clippers won the game. They did this in front of a big crowd at Staples Center. Kennard thought he was in Sunny San Diego, but it seemed like it was a training camp, golf tournament, or fishing trip with his teammates.

The Clippers have put it into his mind that he needs to shoot whenever there is a chance. Monday, the player from Duke came off the bench and did most of his damage in the first half. He was hitting shots – and hitting them well. In the first half, he scored 17 points and made 5 out of 7 shots, four of which were from three-point range.

The Clippers made the Blazers turn the ball over a lot, and Lillard didn’t play as well.

Even though the team that Patrick Beverley is on does not bother Damian Lillard, he had a hard time against the Clippers. He only averaged 20 points per game against other teams, but against the Clippers, he did not get over 19 points.

The player was 3 for 8 and 0 for five from 3-point range at halftime. He left the game with 2:02 left in the third; He had made only one more shot. A layup cut the Clippers’ lead to 60-44 with 10:35 left in the 3rd quarter.
In three games this season, Lillard is 2 for 24 from the 3-point range.

Lillard tried to do a dunk. He threw it down on Isaiah Hartenstein, the Clippers’ 7-foot center. He missed! Lillard was called for an offensive foul too.

A few possessions later, Terance Mann (he got 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting) stopped Lillard’s fallaway shot.
Mann and Kennard helped the Clippers avoid their first 0-3 start since 2010-11. They did this by avoiding shaky shooting as they were in their first season as coach.

Paul George had eight steals in one game. He had more takeaways than baskets. He shot six shots from the floor and two shots from deep. Reggie Jackson shot six shots from the floor and three shots from deep.

Kennard made six 3-pointers. That is his highest total for this game. He also had four rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot, and a steal. They were able to make 37 of their 44 shots from the field because they had 37 assists from those 44 shots.

After losing the first two games, the Clippers got going in their third game. They won even though they were missing some players. In the first period, they broke it open and didn’t let up until the end.

The Clippers led by 18 points. This was because of a group that included Jackson, Kennard, Hartenstein, Mann, and Justice Winslow. They scored 14 points in the last 3 minutes of the first quarter.

Brandon Boston Jr. is a rookie that played well in his first pro game. He scored three points. Brandon was drafted by the Clippers, and he went to Sierra Canyon High School before playing for the Clippers.

CJ scored 20 points for the Blazers, who shot 36% and had 15 assists.
