Minneapolis Officer Charged in Pursuit That Killed Motorist

MINNEAPOLIS (CSU) — A Minneapolis police officer has been charged with manslaughter and vehicular homicide in a July accident that occurred while the officer was pursuing a stolen car.❗

Officer Brian Cummings was driving a police car with his siren and lights on at nearly 80 mph (129 kph) when he crashed into a car, killing the person in it. The track went on for more than 20 blocks. It was in some neighborhoods that had a speed limit of 25 mph.⛔

A police officer is expected to protect and serve the people in their city. Officer Cummings broke the rules when he acted differently than he said he would. He was not “good” because his actions caused someone to die. Police officers from the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis did not immediately return a call.

Cummings was chasing Frazier. Frazier’s Jeep takes up an intersection on a green light. A stolen car came close to the Jeep, and Cummings’ squad car hit it on the driver’s side.

Cummings has been accused of two crimes. He is accused of second-degree manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide. He hit a car on the road, and it says that this collision was Cummings’ fault Coz he did not pay attention to the other drivers.
