Gabby Petito’s Parents Thought Brian Laundrie Would ‘take Care of Her.’

Gabby’s parents said they were fooled by a “quiet and polite” Brian Laundrie. They thought he was authorized to take care of her and keep her safe on the trip out west.

Instead, Laundrie is running away. He has been questioned about the strangulation of a 22-year-old Native Long Islander.

“He just seemed like a Good guy,” Petito’s mother, Nichole Schmidt, told Australia’s “60 Minutes.” I was worried about my daughter. I told her to be careful and do not to trust anybody.

“But I felt secure because she was with Brian Laundrie, and I felt like he would take care of her,” she said. “I thought he would do the right thing.”

Petito and Laundrie went on a trip. They blogged about it on Instagram.

The girl’s father said she looked happy, but as we looked more and more into it, she might not has been as happy as people think.

Laundrie, 23, went home to Florida on September 1 without his girlfriend. He quickly got an attorney and refused to talk to investigators after Petito was reported missing.

On September 19, Laundrie found Petito’s body at a campground. The cause of her death was strangulation.

The person who took her debit card and used it has been named in a federal arrest warrant. The person is the only one that can use her debit card to buy things.

Schmidt said that the family had misjudged their daughter’s boyfriend.

He was polite and quiet. He would do things for her. He read stories to my little sister at night before bed. So, he seemed like a nice guy to me.

Petito’s stepfather agrees.

Everytime he came over, he would be nice and talk to our other children. They knew him and liked him.

But, despite the couple’s careful efforts to keep their marriage together, problems have still come up. They had a police stop about a domestic incident on August 12.

Gabby Petito was last seen living on August 27 at a Wyoming restaurant. A man named Laundrie became angry at the staff there.

The Petito family has set up the Gabby Petito Foundation. It helps people who are victims of domestic violence, and it helps find missing people.

On Sunday, the group clutches its first fundraiser in Blue Point. They raised money there.

“It is a fundraising event by some of their friends to raise money to help people like Gabby. They are setting up a foundation to help find missing people and women in abusive relationships.”
