Gabby Petito, a slain Florida woman, previously resided and worked in North Carolina.

Petito worked as a hostess and kitchen helper at Smoke on the Water, a restaurant in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, from September 2017 to January 2019.

In memory of Petito, the restaurant erected a table. The eatery also has plans to build a tree in honor of Petito as a permanent memorial.

Petito was murdered on a cross-country trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie. Her body was discovered at a national park in Wyoming, where she and her partner were vacationing. The coroner determined that Petito died as a result of homicide, but the official cause of death will remain unknown until the final autopsy findings are released.
Laundry is considered a person of interest in the case. He fled from sight more than a week ago after returning to his parent’s home in Florida.
