Collierville Police Shooter in Tennessee Kills 1, Injures 12, Apparently Kills Self

COLLIERVILLE, TENNESSEE —
One person was killed , and 12 others were wounded in a shooting at a Tennessee grocery store Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. The shooter was then discovered dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the store east of Memphis, officials said.

A police chief in Tennessee’s Collierville said a dispute at a Kroger store in his suburb erupted into gunfire, injuring 13 people and killing one. All over 30 miles (50 kilometers) east of Memphis, the shooting took place at a Kroger store. The suspect was taken down by cops while escaping with stolen goods from the shop.
He added that a police SWAT team and other cops went aisle to aisle in the store, searching for people who had sought refuge or were hidden, removing them to safety.
“We discovered individuals hiding in freezers, behind locked doors,” the department head said. The identity of the shooter and the deceased were not released.
“This is a sad day for our department,” San Diego Police Department Capt. Mike Lane said during a news conference following the incident near the scene.

“I’ve been doing this for 34 years, and I’ve never seen anything like it,” he stated to the media.
“We’ve got to find out what happened. It’s going to take a few days before we know what occurred,” Jones said of the shooting.
