Warner Bros. is attempting to return to the world of J.K. Rowling sooner rather than later, with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore now being released on April 15, 2022 instead of July 15, 2022.
It goes against Paramount’s The Lost City of D, which is set to premiere on April 15, 2022.
Jude Law, Eddie Redmayne, and Mads Mikkelsen play Dumbledore, Newt Scamander, and Gellert Grindelwald in the forthcoming Fantastic Beasts film. Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Will Nadylam and Katherine Waterston round out the cast.
The film resumes as Dumbledore, who has learned that Grindelwald plans to take control of the wizarding world, hires Newt Scamander to lead a team on a risky mission through which they confront old and new monsters as well as Grindelwald’s growing army of followers.
The Secrets of Dumbledore is a Fantastic Beasts spin-off directed by David Yates, which follows on directly after Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) and The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). It’s the third in a planned five-movie Harry Potter prequel series.
Rowling and Steve Kloves wrote the screenplay, which was based on a script written by Rowling. It is produced by Heyman, Kloves, Wigram, Lewis, and Rowling.
