Britney Spears Doesn’t Want Dad to ‘impede’ Sam Asghari Prenup, Lawyer Says

In addition, Britney Spears wants her father to be taken off the legal agreement first before she will agree to prompt and thorough termination of the conservatorship that has overseen her finances and personal life since 2008. “Britney supports the expedited and definitive removal of the conservatorship this fall,” said a lawyer for the singer in a court

In a follow-up petition submitted a week before the next scheduled hearing, Mathew S. Rosengart, a lawyer for Ms. Spears, repeated his earlier demands for Mr. Spears’s immediate resignation or suspension as conservator of her estate, even while she pursues the dissolution of the guardianship and an inquiry into her father’s conduct while

Meanwhile, Spears’ conservatorship was “swiftly unwound and legally terminated,” according to a court filing. Mr. Rosengart, who took over as Ms. Spears’s representative in July, wrote that while the entire conservatorship is swiftly ended and formally terminated, it is clear that Mr. Spears cannot be permitted to maintain control.

An attorney for Michael Spears, the pop star’s father, has asked the Los Angeles probate court to terminate his conservatorship. After more than a decade of claiming that the unusual arrangement was in his daughter’s best interests, Mr. Spears asked the court to “seriously consider” whether this conservatorship was still needed earlier this month.

In June, Ms. Spears, 39, called the conservatorship “abusive” and stated that she wanted to terminate it without having to go through any more psychiatric testing.

While Miss. Spears “fully agrees” to the termination of her conservatorship, Mr. Rosengart said on Wednesday that while she “completely agrees” with her father’s account of history, she continues to believe that the Termination Petition was motivated by Mr. Spears’ apparent self-interest — specifically, his desire to rehabilitate his reputation.

Mr. Rosengart suggested that a “temporary, short-term conservator be appointed to take the place of Mr. Spears until the conservatorship is finally and inevitably terminated this fall.”

“The ultimate purpose of the conservatorship was to ensure that Ms. Spears could continue living in her home and maintain control of her finances,” he wrote. “However, due to Mr. Spears’ continued secretive behavior toward his third wife, Britney’s current personal conservator Jodi Montgomery has now recommended, subject to proper.

The attorney also brought up the singer’s upcoming wedding, noting that Mr. Spears’ present status as conservator of the estate “would obstruct his ability to negotiate and execute” a prenuptial agreement.”

Mr. Spears’ legal team has yet to respond to a request for comment.
Additionally, Mr. Rosengart called for a future hearing on outstanding financial issues regarding the conservatorship. He said that there were problems with the mismanagement of Ms. Spears’s estate by her father and that he served a request for discovery and a sworn deposition in August before he filed to end the conservatorship.

Mr. Rosengart mentioned Mr. Spears’s “unwarranted commissions from his daughter’s work, totaling millions of dollars,” as well as a wage that was more than Ms. Spears’s, “including for apparently-unused ‘office’ space,” and the singer’s previous business manager not negotiating or obtaining a contract with him.
