Military Plane Crashes Into Texas Neighborhood

A military plane crashed in a Texas neighborhood late Sunday morning, damaging three houses and forcing the residents to relocate, authorities said. The crash happened in Lake Worth, Texas and it happened at 11:15 a.m. It was near the 4000 block of Tejas and Dakota.

The plane was identified as a T-45C Goshawk jet trainer belonging to Training Air Wing 2 at Naval Air Station in Kingsville, Texas by the United States Navy. Before the crash, the two pilots ejected themselves. One of the pilot’s parachutes became caught in powerlines, while the other pilot was discovered nearby, according to Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian.

Both pilots were taken to a doctor’s office for further evaluation, and they are in good condition.
According to Chief of Naval Air Training, a routine training flight for an F-18 jet began from Corpus Christi International Airport. Residents of the damaged properties were relocated, and a Red Cross team was on hand to assist them. There were no reports of injury.

The street was dark in the area surrounding the accident, and the power was out. It is expected to be off for up to a few days, according to cops. There are about 60 to 70 residents in the impacted zone. Several homes had minor damage, but it could have been worse. When you collate it to the other houses, they actually did well.

The accident occurred about a block away from NA Howry Middle School, but school operations are not expected to be disrupted tomorrow. Lake Worth Police say that if you find any debris, do not touch it. Call the police on their non-emergency number 817-237-1224.

The precise cause of the accident is unrevealed. The police are expected to be on the scene throughout the night and into the early morning hours.
