Dc Firefighters Respond To Flames At Fort Totten Trash Transfer Station

A garbage-transfer station fire broke out Sunday afternoon in Northeast D.C., producing a pillar of black smoke that rose into the sky.

At 1:12 p.m., the D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted that a “large pile of debris” was ablaze at the trash transfer station on Bates Road in northeast Washington, DC.

The department stated that it had controlled all of the visible fire an hour and a half later. To spread out all of the rubbish and quench any remaining hot spots, D.C. firefighters utilized heavy equipment.

There have been no reported injuries.
