Cinema Worker Goes Viral After ‘reveals’ Popcorn ‘scam’ in Tik Tok Video

Cinema worker goes viral after ‘Reveals’ popcorn ‘scam’ in TikTok video

TikTok @thatcoolguy.25597 told people that they had been scammed and it might be because the medium and small cups have the same amount of popcorn.

In the video, which has been watched by 6.3 million people, a person pretends to be a customer ordering food at the movie theater.

“I’ve been working in cinemas for years and I don’t get any popcorn,” the woman says in the video before complaining about how audiences notice when workers sneak snacks during their breaks.

“It’s like, I don’t eat it because I’m not allowed to,” she said. “I don’t think it’s fair, because we can see when you’re all eating popcorn.”

She adds: “You go in the cinema and you get goody bags and goody bags and goody bags and then after the film is over the lights come up and everyone gets up but we still just sit there. And then sometimes we’ll say ‘Oh well do we start now?’ to each other and then people will say ‘well we’re waiting for them.'”

The video has been viewed more than 700,000 times on TikTok so far with many users praising her honesty about their actions in cinemas. Several people have suggested she should be working on the other side of the counter and one user said: “I would hire you and give you free popcorn every day.”

Other TikTok users even uploaded edited clips of Disney films like ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Peter Pan’ in which no food was visible, to communicate their support.

In a clever move by the worker, she parodied her own message with a response video saying that it was an April Fool’s prank. In this video, she goes back into the cinema showing off her new job as manager. By doing so, many commented that they believed her all along but still liked seeing TikTok users’ creative reactions to it. The woman later posted a third video thanking the TikTok community for their support, saying she enjoyed “the ride” and was grateful to have her day brightened up.

She said: “I’d just like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported me on my video.”
