10 people got shot. 7 innocent people were also shot. It happened in North Corona in a brazen, coordinated attack.
There was a crime scene in Queens on Sunday morning. It was where 10 people were shot on Saturday night. The police shut down five blocks of 37th Avenue to investigate the crime.
The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday night and two men started it. After the shooting, they got on two waiting motorcycles and drove away with two other men on them.
“There is only one thing that keeps happening in New York City. There are gangs, guns, people wearing masks and using scooters. And sometimes there are people who aren’t the target, but they get hurt.” said Chief of Detectives James Essig from NYPD.
Police held a news conference after 10 people were shot in North Corona. 10 people were shot, 7 of them innocent bystanders. The victims ranged in age from 19 to 72 years old. Police are still investigating the shooting and arrests have not been announced yet.
A lot of people were hurt. They were taken to hospitals. The worst injury was a gunshot wound to one victim’s stomach.
Police have released a video of four men wanted for shooting 10 people in Queens. It was not their intention to shoot these people, but they did shoot the people at the restaurant when they were having a party and there were many people on the sidewalk. These 4 men are still on the loose and anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
In a video I saw, two people were standing next to a red car. Two gunmen came on foot with weapons out. The people ran away and the gunmen chased them.
Two men just put their arms out into a very crowded street. They found 40 shell casings and deformed bullets.
A woman who works at a restaurant on 37th Avenue came outside and told the police what she saw. We heard gunshots and went outside. I saw two people who were hurt and bleeding. We were afraid that they would come inside, but we are all okay.
The NYPD said that the shooting was gang-related.
Police officers need to be on the street. The cameras will not do as much as police officers. Police Chief Juanita Holmes said, “They know the area that’s why they were wearing masks.” Candidates for mayor of New York also spoke about the violence in their speeches.
In New York City, there has been a lot of violence. Tonight there was a shooting in Queens and 10 people were shot. Candidates for mayor want to do something about it to make New Yorkers safer.
“This level of violence should be unimaginable in New York. It is now our reality. We need a task force that coordinates between all levels of government to help stop this violence.”
“There should be stop and frisk because if you don’t, more people with handguns will come out and shoot at innocent members of the community,” Republican candidate for mayor Curtis Sliwa said.

The NYPD told the media that 18 people were shot in six different shootings on Saturday.
